We are honored to serve our patients in a piece of architectural history. Designed in 1956 by the legendary American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, our office, located in Dayton, Ohio, stands as a remarkable example of Wright’s late-career work in the realm of commercial architecture. Originally known as the Kenneth L. Meyers Medical Clinic, this distinctive structure reflects Wright’s organic architectural philosophy — integrating form with the landscape and emphasizing harmony between human use and natural surroundings.

Wright’s design is characterized by its long, low profile and bands of windows that wrap the façade, creating a sense of openness and connection to the surrounding environment. Set back from the street on a generous site, the building’s broad eaves, warm brick masonry, and thoughtful horizontal lines give it a grounded yet elegant presence. The large hearth—the center of many of Wright’s designs—is the defining feature of the lobby. At the heart of the medical section lies a circular reception area, an unusual and inviting feature that reflects Wright’s interest in blending functional design with visual interest.

Frank Lloyd Wright had a prolific architectural career that spanned 70 years. He designed over 1000 structures. Over 500 of his designs were constructed, and around 400 remain today. The Frank Lloyd Wright Medical Pavilion is one of the few commercial buildings designed by Wright and one of only three medical clinics still standing. Over the years, careful updates have helped maintain the spirit of Wright’s original vision while supporting the modern medical practice. Dr. James Apesos views himself not merely as the owner of a building but as a steward of history.
